Battery Installed
If you have one of the battery-powered Netgear "Nighthawk" MR1100 modems, we recommend that you remove the battery during normal use. These modems are high performance units and are not designed to have the battery permanently installed for 24/7 operation.
If you currently have the battery installed in your modem, this may very likely be the reason that the modem shuts off from time to time. As the battery gets hot, the modem will shut off in order to allow itself to cool down.
Please remove the battery from your modem and only use it in cases where you will be traveling away from your home or business.
Incorrect Settings
Another reason that you may be experiencing your modem shutting off is that it has been set to the manufacturer's default settings. If you have performed a factory reset on the modem after installation or if we missed a step in getting the modem configured properly before installation, you will need to configure the modem to our recommended settings.
WiFi Range
Sometimes your modem may be working just fine but you have actually gone beyond the range of the modem's built-in WiFi. In this case, we recommend the Ubiquiti Amplifi line of products for improving the WiFi coverage around your home. This product is made by a quality manufacturer, is easy to install and in many cases, will greatly improve the WiFi performance around your home.
